TBR: Christmas Break Edition

It’s that time of year again, there’s a chill in the air, holiday cheer, FINALS ARE WINDING DOWN. Gah I can’t wait to be done, almost there!! And since Christmas break is rolling around, here’s a list of books I’m planning to read.

REBEL SPRING by Morgan Rhodes
I read FALLING KINGDOMS this semester for a paper and I loved it. I’m so excited to continue this series. Personally, I ship Cleo and Jonas hardcore, and I’m really hoping there’s something there.

MAGNUS CHASE: THE SWORD OF SUMMER
by Rick Riordan
I loved Percy Jackson. Heroes of Olympus I couldn’t get in too. But I’m super excited to start this one. Its Norse mythology, which I think is super interesting and Magnus is Annabeth’s cousin. Annabeth is my fav.

SEE HOW THEY RUN by Ally Carter
I asked for this book for Christmas and I CANNOT WAIT. This is the second book in the Embassy Row series and the first book is fantastic. Ally is one of my favorite authors ever, and Grace is an amazing character. And her crew! *heart eyes*

ALL IN by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

Also a book I asked for, and it’s the third book in THE NATURALS series. These books. Ughhh these books. It’s like Criminal Minds meets badass teenagers and it’s literally the best.

Finally, Sondra over at Sorcery in the Bookshelves has /highly suggested/ I read The LUNAR CHRONICLES and VAMPIRE ACADEMY, so who knows, those might make it in too ;)

So what are you reading over break? Leave a comment below and let me know!

This marks the end of the Something Strange and Deadly read-along. Next, Stephanie over at stephwonderland.blogspot.com will continue on with the second book in the series, A Darkness Strange and Lovely. Before that happens though, let's finish up with Part Two of the discussion questions!!

7) Who is your favorite character in this book and why?
My favorite character has to be Eleanor. She grows so much over the course of the novel, and she is a strong female character. She's sassy and independent and I love her!

8) How would you convince your friends to read this book?
Silently comes out of nowhere and shoves the book into friend's hands. Disappears into the darkness, with the lingering whisper of "You better read it"

Anndddd that concludes my discussion post for part two! I hope you'll join Stephanie for the continuation of the series!! <3

Remember that time I thought it would be really cool to start a book blog right before school started back up again? Yeah, me too. I'm so sorry lol.

Remember that time when I talked about my most anticipated books and Truthwitch by Susan Dennard made the list? Yeah, me too, and I was chosen to be a part of the Firewitch Clan to help promote the book!! [I should totally be doing Math right now]

The wonderful Stephanie Kaye is hosting a read along of Empress Sooz's other series Something Strange and Deadly!! Here's my part of the discussion for Chapters 1-14 :)

How do you think you would react to the Dead walking around in your city?
probably freak out and enroll in some type of self defense class.

What do you think about the Dead? Are you glad it isn't too Zombie-ish, or were you hoping for a more Zombie-esque theme?
I didn't really have any expectations going into this book when I read it, and I don't normally read Zombie stories. With that being said, I loved the Dead, I thought they were unique and interesting!

How do you feel about Eleanor as a character?
I love Eleanor as a character. She's sassy, independent and curious and I love it!

Feel free to join the read-along as well! It's not too late! I hope you all have a wonderful week, and hopefully it won't take me as long to post again <3

Top 5 Books I'm Anxiously Waiting For

I should be organizing my room and starting to get ready to move. Instead I decided now would be a GREAT time to start a book blog, and if there's one thing I do well, it's procrastination!
So with that being said, welcome to my blog!
For my first post, I wanted to share 5 books that are set to be released soonish that I cannot contain my excitement for. So in no particular order, here we go!

1. Truthwitch by Susan Dennard
Expected Release Date Jan. 5, 2016
                                                             Summary from Goodreads
On a continent ruled by three empires, some are born with a “witchery”, a magical skill that sets them apart from others.
In the Witchlands, there are almost as many types of magic as there are ways to get in trouble—as two desperate young women know all too well.
Safiya is a Truthwitch, able to discern truth from lie. It’s a powerful magic that many would kill to have on their side, especially amongst the nobility to which Safi was born. So Safi must keep her gift hidden, lest she be used as a pawn in the struggle between empires.
Iseult, a Threadwitch, can see the invisible ties that bind and entangle the lives around her—but she cannot see the bonds that touch her own heart. Her unlikely friendship with Safi has taken her from life as an outcast into one of reckless adventure, where she is a cool, wary balance to Safi’s hotheaded impulsiveness.
Safi and Iseult just want to be free to live their own lives, but war is coming to the Witchlands. With the help of the cunning Prince Merik (a Windwitch and ship’s captain) and the hindrance of a Bloodwitch bent on revenge, the friends must fight emperors, princes, and mercenaries alike, who will stop at nothing to get their hands on a Truthwitch.

I can't really put into words why I'm so excited for this book, but I'll try. Adventure, magic, sailing, seafoxes, and cute boys? I want in! The cast of characters has me hooked, and I cannot wait to read more about Safi, Iseult, Merik, Kullen, and Aeudan. The first two chapters are available to read on Susan's tumblr and if that doesn't get you hooked, the hype over at @Truthwitch definitely will.

2. See How They Run by Ally Carter
Expected Release Date Jan. 5, 2016
Summary from Goodreads
Inside every secret, there's a world of trouble. Get ready for the second book in this new series of global proportions--from master of intrigue, New York Times bestselling author Ally Carter.
Grace's past has come back to hunt her . . . and if she doesn't stop it, Grace isn't the only one who will get hurt. Because on Embassy Row, the countries of the world stand like dominoes, and one wrong move can make them all fall down.
This will be book 2 in the Embassy Row series, and let me tell you, All Fall Down had me squealing and guessing until the very last page. With the GAME CHANGER (see what I did there Ally) at the end of the first one, I didn't see how I was going to be able to wait an entire year to find out what happens to Grace and the rest of the gang on Embassy Row. Ally is one of my favorite authors, and I know this book won't disappoint.

3. Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas
Expected Release Date Sep. 1 2015
Summary from Goodreads
Everyone Celaena Sardothien loves has been taken from her. But she's at last returned to the empire—for vengeance, to rescue her once-glorious kingdom, and to confront the shadows of her past . . .
She will fight for her cousin, a warrior prepared to die just to see her again. She will fight for her friend, a young man trapped in an unspeakable prison. And she will fight for her people, enslaved to a brutal king and awaiting their lost queen's triumphant return.
Celaena’s epic journey has captured the hearts and imaginations of millions across the globe. This fourth volume will hold readers rapt as Celaena’s story builds to a passionate, agonizing crescendo that might just shatter her world.

Queen of Shadows will be the fourth novel in the Throne of Glass series and I fell in love at the very start. Celaena is such an interesting and dynamic character, and the last book had me in shock. I can not wait to see how this book continues her story, and I'm definitely hoping we see certain characters return.
4. Vengeance Road by Erin Bowman
Expected Release Date Sep. 1, 2015
Summary from Goodreads
When Kate Thompson’s father is killed by the notorious Rose Riders for a mysterious journal that reveals the secret location of a gold mine, the eighteen-year-old disguises herself as a boy and takes to the gritty plains looking for answers and justice. What she finds are devious strangers, dust storms, and a pair of brothers who refuse to quit riding in her shadow. But as Kate gets closer to the secrets about her family, she gets closer to the truth about herself and must decide if there's room for love in a heart so full of hate.

This book is unlike anything I've read in the past (I'm not really into Westerns). However, this summary has me intrigued and I'm a sucker for strong heroines and cute boys i.e. the Colton brothers.

5. The Raven King by Maggie Stiefvater
Expected Release Date Feb. 23 2016
Summary from Goodreads
All her life, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love's death. She doesn't believe in true love and never thought this would be a problem, but as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, she's not so sure anymore.

This will be the fourth and final book in The Raven Boys series, and the series is one of my favorites. I'm excited, (and extremely nervous) to find out what will  happen to Blue, Gansey, and the rest of the boys. Hopefully everything will end well, but honestly, my heart will probably be shattered into a million pieces. I'm ready for it.

Thank you so much for reading my first post! I should probably go start organizing now. Tell me in the comments your Top 5 books you can't wait to be released!
